Tembo is an easy-to-use file search tool based upon the powerful Spotlight engine. Tembo finds documents, folders, mail messages, bookmarks, images, videos, and more. It shows results grouped by file type. Initially the top 10 matches for each group are shown. Often enough you will find the sought for file right here.
Drill-down into a group reveals up to 10’000 results alongside context-sensitive filters. These help narrow down the results list. The “Messages” group, for example, has filters on subject, sender and recipient. The “Images” group has filters for resolution and file type.
Thus Tembo is much more than a file search tool. It works as an extension to Mail or iChat to locate messages; as an extension to Safari to search browsing history and bookmarks.

Which files can Tembo find?
Tembo is based upon the Spotlight index and engine. Tembo can find any file indexed by Spotlight. This includes files in the Library folders. This excludes many low-level system files.

Drill Down & Filters
The real power of Tembo is revealed when you drill down into a group. Filters appropriate to the current group help you quickly find what you are looking for.
Filters show options that are actually available. The File Type filter, for example, shows aMicrosoft Word option only if the search returned Word files.
Select that option to reduce the long list of results to just Word files. Command-click several filter values to see files of different types.

Note: Tembo 2.0 is a paid upgrade from previous versions. A single-user upgrade license is priced at $6.95. The trial version will load your current license file and offer you the option to purchase an upgrade. Licenses purchased on or after March 1, 2015 qualify for a free upgrade.
